I have over 14 years of experience working in higher education website development and digital marketing.
I am passionate about learning and sharing my thoughts and ideas to the higher education website community. My focus is not on website design alone, but how a website performs for the user.
My philosophy is to keep things simple for website usability, focus on website standards for website accessibility, and to ensure that higher educational websites meet the highest standards of editorial and graphic quality.
I believe that the best way to learn is to teach. Therefore, I leap at the opportunity to speak at web conferences, present workshops, and lead training sessions. I love being able to break down a complex situation into simple language (because, let’s face it, nobody likes listening to a nerd rattle off tech jargon).

Blinn College is a two-year academic institution based in Brenham, Texas, with campuses in Brenham, Bryan, Schulenburg, and Sealy. While Brenham is Blinn's main campus, with dorms and apartments, more than 65 percent of its students attend the Bryan campus.
Established in 1883, Blinn College offers academic transfer, workforce training and continuing education classes for approximately 19,000 students.
I worked closely with the marketing team, departments and divisions, to create this new website for Blinn College. This website was launched in the Summer of 2018.

While I did not design the current Blinn College website, I maintained this site while working on the new Blinn College website. This website was not a CMS website, maintained only through Dreamweaver. This website was replaced with a new website in 2018.

The Blinn College Foundation serves as a separate, charitable organization in support of Blinn College. The Blinn College Foundation supports the college by generating private and corporate gifts for scholarships, academic programs, student activities, campus buildings, and special events. For many students, the Blinn College Foundation makes education a reality and ensures that an affordable, quality education is within reach.
While I did not design this version of the Blinn College Foundation website, I did maintain the entire site. I was the only content administrator of the website and worked closely with the director of the Blinn College Foundation to keep the website up-to-date. This Blinn College Foundation website was merged to the new format and design of the new Blinn College website when it was launched.

Founded in 1916, the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences is one of only 31 colleges of veterinary medicine in the United States and Canada. It is consistently ranked as one of the top 5 vet schools in the country, according to U.S. News.
The college offers an undergraduate program in Biomedical Sciences, a professional Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, and numerous graduate programs relating to veterinary medicine and epidemiology.

By drawing on information housed in a common database, the Ellucian Portal enables users to do whatever their role requires, whether that’s posting course assignments and mid-term test results or checking account balances and grade status.

This departmental website uses a content management system called phpWebSite, developed by the Web Technology Group at Appalachian State University.

Panhandle PBS began operation in August, 1988 as the Panhandle’s PBS member station. Licensed to Amarillo College the station extends the community college philosophy of improving the quality of life for all residents.
This website uses the Bento Content Mangement System (CMS). This is a flexible CMS for stations to create websites, manage digital experiences, and leverage Media Manager content libraries. It is designed to meet the needs of stations looking for a simple and integrated template solution, as well as stations looking to leverage content throughout the system in unique, customized ways. Bento is fully hosted by PBS.
ETWR-1931 Social Media Tools
An academic class instructing students on how to promote organizations, products and services using social media tools such as blogs, Facebook and Twitter. Adhering to the rules of online etiquette, I instructed students on how to build a community and curate its contributed information so that the information reliably provides online support for products or services.
